Air Defense Artillery Test
Directorate
Glacier Technologies personnel continue to support
FCBS (a subsidiary of General Dynamics) in the operational testing of military
equipment at Fort Bliss's Air Defense Artillery Test Directorate. In recent
months we have had almost forty temporary employees supporting our core group of
personnel at Fort Bliss on two major tests involving the U.S. Army's Patriot
missile system. Our personnel have put in long hours supporting test activities
during the summer and will continue to support the test directorate until
mid-to-late November. Data collectors and electronic technicians have deployed
with the test unit to field locations for both training and testing, while the
analyst, data processing, quality control, video reduction, and other support
personnel are working to ensure the collected test data is processed and
authenticated. Toward the end of the test, Glacier personnel will conduct live
Missile Firing Tests from tactical locations at White Sands Missile Range.
During non-testing phases, Glacier Technologies
technicians work closely with Government engineers and Technicians on new system
developments and improvements/upgrades of current instrumentation systems;
assist Government counterparts in day-to-day operations in the computer, WAN,
and LAN areas; provide data acquisition and reliability information for the Army
in support of Clear Skies exercises; provide technical and computer support to
Instrumentation Section; and, provide critical technical advice, input and
expertise for future Operational Tests.
